Sister Mary Peter Fabey, S.S.J.
Sister Mary Peter Fabey, S.S.J., formerly Lydia A. Fabey, died on Oct. 15, 2008. She was 91. She was born in Philadelphia to Peter Fabey and Mary Ellen Mc Laughlin. She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph in September 1934. For several years, she served in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and the Diocese of Camden. A Funeral Mass was celebrated on Oct. 21. Burial followed at the Community Cemetery. She is survived by her brother, Joseph; her nephews, James, Peter, John and Mark; several grandnieces, grandnephews and the congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph.
Father John M. Quinn, O.S.A.
Father John M. Quinn, O.S.A., died after a long illness on Oct. 3, 2008 at the Health Center, St. Thomas Monastery, Villanova. He was the son of Andrew and Rose Hughes Quinn. He was ordained in the Augustinian Order in February 1949, received a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Villanova University and a master’s degree and doctorate in philosophy from Catholic University, Washington, D.C. For many years following, he taught in various high schools and colleges. He also authored several books and articles on philosophy and on St. Augustine. In 2002, he published “A Companion to the Confessions of Saint Augustine.” He is predeceased by his sister, Sister Rose Andrew, S.S.J. He is survived by two brothers, Andrew and Thomas; two sisters, Anne and Rose; and a cousin, Sister Blandina, S.S.J.
