Sister Margaret Mary Smith, S.S. J.
Sister Margaret Mary Smith, S.S.J., formerly S. Anne Cyrille, died on Dec. 16, 2008. She was 82. She was born in McSherrystown, Pa., to Paul F. Smith and Marie Lawrence. She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph on Sept. 12, 1947, and served in the Archdioceses of Philadelphia and Baltimore, and the dioceses of Allentown and Harrisburg, Pa., and Raleigh, N.C. She is predeceased by her brothers, Francis and Robert, and her sister, Joan. A funeral Mass was celebrated Dec. 22. Interment followed in the community cemetery. She is survived by her brother, Father Cyril J. Smith, O.S.A.; her sisters, Sister Carmelita Smith, S.S.J., Sister Anne Louise Smith, M.M.S., Kathleen and Cecilia; nieces, nephews and her congregation.
Sister Miriam Brigid Ciarahan, S.S.J.
Sister Miriam Brigid Ciarahan, S.S.J., formerly Veronica J. Clarahan, died on Dec. 22, 2008. She was 77. She was born in Philadelphia to John Clarahan and Bridget Duffy. She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph on Sept. 13, 1949. She served for many years in the Archdioceses of Philadelphia and Newark, N.J., and the dioceses of Allentown and Harrisburg, Pa., Camden, N.J., and Wilmington, Del. She is predeceased by her brothers, Joseph, John and Father Eugene Clarahan, and her sister, Sister Emmerita Clarahan, S.S.J. A funeral Mass was celebrated on Dec. 29. Interment followed in the community cemetery. She is survived by her brother, Neil; her sister, Teresa; numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and her congregation.
