Duties and Responsibilities: • Through individual conversation, group formation, and scheduled programs: • Assist students in the exploration, development, and appropriation of their faith • Provide experiences which foster personal development in a holistic manner • Promote experiences of authentic Christian community on campus • Foster the development of a mature Christian conscience • Educate students in principles of justice grounded in Catholic social teaching • Provide opportunities for the development of future leaders in the Church and society • Offer opportunities for the exploration of Ignatian Spirituality • As assigned by the Director of Campus Ministry, oversee, develop, promote, and facilitate programs and events which may include: • Community service opportunities • Domestic or international immersion programs • Christian Life Communities (Koinonia) • Retreats • Liturgies and liturgical ministry formation • Social justice education and advocacy programs • Spiritual direction/companionship and pastoral conversation • Faith formation and sacramental preparation programs • Alumni outreach • Ministry to particular populations: athletes, fraternities/sororities, first year students, etc. • Prayer services, reflection and educational events, community meals • Occasional emergency pastoral response • Other related ministry programs, recruitment, and outreach Program responsibilities include reservation of locations, communication with internal or external partners/vendors, event planning, advertising/promoting, selecting and training of student teams, follow-up events, and evaluation. • Collaborate as an active member of the Campus Ministry team, including regular participation in staff meetings and planning/reflection days and assistance as needed with other Campus Ministry activities • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Campus Ministry Secondary Responsibilities: Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours: • Significant evening and weekend hours Minimum Requirements: • Bachelor’s degree • Previous experience with youth, collegiate, or young adult ministry • A deep familiarity with the Catholic Christian faith • A proven ability to relate well with young adult students • Willingness to function in a complex team setting Preferred Qualifications: • Master’s degree in theology, pastoral ministry, or related field • Significant previous experience in effectively coordinating and executing Catholic Christian ministry programs for college students, instructing and training volunteer leaders, and building positive working relationships with colleagues and students • Substantial familiarity with Ignatian Spirituality and a commitment to communicating the Jesuit emphasis on “a Faith that Does Justice” • Excellent organization and communication skills For a complete job description and to apply, visit https://jobs.sju.edu/postings/11925.
