Seven men will be ordained permanent deacons by Archbishop Charles J. Chaput for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia on Saturday, June 7 at 10 a.m. at the Cathedral Basilica of SS. Peter and Paul, Philadelphia.

All the faithful are invited to attend the ordination Mass and to pray for the men as they become ordained clergy in the archdiocese.

Joseph W. Bernauer Jr. is a member of Maternity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish in Northeast Philadelphia where he resides with his wife Marianne. They have two children, Rachel and Joseph. Bernauer holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration in management from West Chester University.  He is an executive sales representative for Dentsply Tulsa Dental Specialties.

E. Michael Cuff is a member of St. Anthony of Padua Parish in Ambler where he resides with his wife Susan and son, Kevin. Cuff served four years in the United States Air Force and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in general studies/communication from Louisiana Tech University. He is a certified career transition coach and a certified life options retirement coach. Cuff is employed by CCI Consulting in Blue Bell, where he holds the position of director of client services.

William J. Moser is a member of St. William Parish in Philadelphia where he resides with his wife Donna and son, Sean. Moser holds a Master of Arts degree in theology from St. Charles Borromeo Seminary in Wynnewood. He is a teacher at Father Judge High School in Philadelphia.

 

John J. Nucero is a member of Mary, Mother of the Redeemer Parish in North Wales where he resides with his wife Christina. They have four children, John, Christopher, Paul and Jacqueline. Nucero holds a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from St. Joseph’s University. He is chief financial officer for Fiber-Line, LLC in Hatfield.

 

Francis X. Phillips is a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish in Glen Mills where he resides with his wife Janice. They have three children, Shawn, David and Joshua. Phillips holds a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from St. Joseph’s University. He is director of finance at St. Basil Academy in Jenkintown.

 

Thomas E. Shurer is a member of St. Agnes Parish in West Chester where he resides with his wife Chris and their four children; Katie, Jake, Rob and Marie. Shurer holds a Bachelor of Science degree in communication disorders, a Master of Arts degree in speech pathology and a Master of Science degree in information science. He is vice president of Information Resources at Devereux, a national behavioral healthcare provider headquartered in Villanova.

James Toth is a member of St. Alphonsus Parish in Maple Glen where he resides with his wife Michelle. They have three sons, Travis, Jarrett and Michael. Toth graduated from Bethlehem Catholic High School in Bethlehem. He is a 23-year veteran postal worker for the United States Postal Service.
