On Sept. 21 students from Presentation B.V.M. School took part in an international art and literacy project, Pinwheels for Peace by “planting” pinwheels. In past years they have placed messages of peace on the pinwheels.

The students wrote their thoughts about “war and peace-tolerance-living in harmony with others” on one side. On the other side, they drew a picture expressing their feelings.

This year in honor of Johnny Kihm, the students made the pinwheels  in patriotic colors. Members of the Class of 2005 planted a tree on the front lawn in memory of their classmate who was killed in Afghanistan last spring.

An angel was also placed by the tree to watch over the children and to remind them to seek peaceful solutions throughout their daily lives.
