Sister, Servant of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Theresa Hopkins, formerly Sister Mary Fidelia, died Sept. 10 in Camilla Hall in Immaculata. She was 79.

She was born in Philadelphia and entered the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1953 from St. Rose of Lima Parish in Philadelphia and professed her first vows that same year.

She received a bachelor’s degree from Immaculata University. She taught elementary school and served as a principal in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and the Dioceses of Allentown, Harrisburg and Arlington, Va. From 2006 until 2011, she assisted in the office at Sacred Heart School in Manoa.

She was predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Catherine Cassidy Hopkins, and 10 siblings: Father Aloysius Hopkins, O.F.M., Thomas, Joseph, Francis, Vincent, James, Paul, Mary Maguire, Catherine McGuigan and Joan Piccone.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at Camilla Hall Sept. 14.

She is survived by a brother Gerald, three sisters-in-law, a brother-in-law, many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, in addition to the members of her community.
