The Cathedral Basilica of SS. Peter and Paul will open the new liturgical year with its annual Forty Hours devotions from Dec. 3 through Dec. 5.

Father Thomas Viviano will preach on “The Eucharist: Proof that God Answers the Prayers of His People.” Ordained to the priesthood in 2013, Father Viviano was first assigned as a parochial vicar at Holy Innocents Parish in Philadelphia. Currently, he serves as the priest secretary to Archbishop Chaput. He is also the vocations coordinator for the Hispanic apostolate, and is an adjunct spiritual director and the director of major ceremonies at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary.

All are encouraged to participate in this devotion, which highlights for us the real presence of Christ in his holy body and blood. By attending the liturgies of Forty Hours, and by spending quiet time in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament, the faithful can better know, love and serve the Lord.
