Event Description

Come celebrate the feast of St. Katharine Drexel at the Basilica. An anticipated Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, March 3 at 5:15 p.m. in the Cathedral Basilica of SS. Peter and Paul, 18th Street and the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, Philadelphia.

Confessions will take place before Mass beginning at 4:15 p.m. in the Basilica. Parking is available.

St. Katharine Drexel was born in Philadelphia to a prominent and wealthy family. In 1891, she left her life as an heiress behind to enter religious life. She founded the order of the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament and used her fortune to create new schools for Native Americans and African Americans across the United States. She was beatified on Nov. 20, 1988 and canonized on Oct. 1, 2000 by St. John Paul II.
