St. Agnes Parish in West Chester will mark the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary on Sunday, Aug. 12 with a full day of festivities including Mass, breakfast and a street procession in West Chester.

The celebration will begin with Mass at 9 a.m. followed by breakfast at the West Chester Golf and Country Club, located at 111 West Ashbridge Street in West Chester.

A solemn procession will begin at 2:30 p.m. in front of St. Agnes Church, 231 West Gay Street, West Chester. Alena Boyer, who has been participating in the event since birth, will serve as procession queen.

The celebration will conclude with benediction in the church.

Now in its 99th year, the annual commemoration is a tradition sustained by the efforts of the parish’s volunteer procession committee, and all are invited to attend.
