Cambios en el examen de naturalización
En octubre del 2008, el Centro para Ciuddanía e Inmigración de los EE.UU. (USCIS por sus siglas en inglés), publicó un examen de naturalización nuevo. Si usted conoce a alguien que planea hacerse ciudadano, por favor comparta la información abajo. Solicitar la ciudadanía incluye los pasos siguientes:

1) Presentar la forma N-400; 2); tomar sus datos biométricos (huellas digitales, etc.); 3) inspección de su pasado por el FBI; 4) completar una entrevista y examenes de inglés y education cívica. En el componente de cívica, los candidatos deben contestar correctamente de 6 a 10 preguntas que se concentran en principios fundamentales dentro de tres categorías: Gobierno americano, historia y educación cívica. La habilidad en el inglés es examinada a través de pruebas oral, una de lectura, y una de escritura. Hay muchos recursos disponibles para ayudar al candidato a prepararse para la nuevas pruebas. Las 100 preguntas de educación cívica y respuestas en inglés, español, chino, tagalo, y vietnamita, todo el material de estudio lo puede encontrar en linea, gratis.

Changes to the naturalization test
In October 2008, the USCIS issued a new, redesigned naturalization test. If you know someone who is planning to become a citizen, please share the information below. Applying for citizenship includes the following steps:

1) Filing the N-400 form; 2) having your biometrics (fingerprints, etc.) taken; 3) passing an FBI background check; 4) completing an interview and English and civics tests. In the civics component of the test, applicants must answer six of ten questions correctly. The questions focus on fundamental principles within three categories: American government, integrated civics and American history. English language proficiency is tested in oral and written tests.

There are many resources available to help applicants prepare for the new test. Some study materials are available on the USCIS web site, including: The 100 civics questions and answers in English, Spanish, Chinese, Tagalog, and Vietnamese. A catechetical forum will be held March 7 at Archbishop Carroll High School, Radnor. Registration deadline is Feb. 20.

The Catholic Institute for Evangelization offers $10 scholarship for catechists to attend.
