Bishop Shanahan High School, Downingtown, hosted its sixth annual Endowment Golf Outing at the pristine French Creek Golf Club in Elverson on a sunny, 75 degree day Sept. 11.
Almost 80 golfers came out to support the Bishop Shanahan Endowment Fund that helps students who desire a Catholic education with the tuition assistance they need to attend the only archdiocesan high school in Chester County. Over its six years, the outing has helped grow the endowment fund by almost $450,000.
Golfers began the day with a barbeque lunch before their shotgun start at 12 noon. They were joined on the golf course by eight members of the Bishop Shanahan golf team who participated in a “Beat the Student” golf contest while sharing with the golfers the benefits of their Catholic education at Shanahan.
After enjoying 18 holes of golf, they returned for dinner on the terrace and a silent auction that included box seat tickets to Flyers, Phillies and 76ers games, autographed memorabilia, foursomes at surrounding golf clubs and a full one-year membership to French Creek Golf Club, among other items.
Bishop Shanahan hosts many events during the year to benefit the endowment. For more information on the annual golf outing or the Endowment Fund, please call 610-343-6255.
