Sister Lisa Valentini, of the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, spoke Jan. 29 to students at Maternity B.V.M. School in Philadelphia. Many schools and religious education programs in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia scheduled a missionary presentation during Catholic Schools Week.
Through the sacrifices of the Missionary Childhood Association members, children in missions around the world receive a Catholic education and learn about the Good News of Jesus. MCA members support 1,200 Catholic schools, over 10,000 orphanages and catechetical programs in 1,150 mission dioceses.
The MCA has a dual mandate of educating children about their part in the Church’s missionary work and challenging them to share what they have with children growing up in the missions. All funds raised are sent to missions around the world which serve only children. The MCA motto is “children helping children.”
