All parish musicians in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia are invited to attend Evening Prayer and receive a blessing at the annual Blessing of Musicians event Tuesday, May 13 at 7 p.m. at the Cathedral Basilica of SS. Peter and Paul, Philadelphia.
The Association of Musicians in Philadelphia will honor eighth graders and high school graduates who have served as music ministers in their respective parishes.
The cathedral, located at 18th Street and Benjamin Franklin Parkway, is also celebrating its 150th anniversary. John Romeri, archdiocesan director of liturgical music, will present a brief musical history of the cathedral and archdiocese. The Cathedral Choir, the Archdiocesan Choir and the Archdiocesan Girls’ Choir will participate. All former members of the Collegiate Choir have been invited to attend and perform with the choirs.
Both musicians and non-musicians are welcome to attend.
