Sister Ann Dorothy Gittings, I.H.M., died April 25 in Camilla Hall, Immaculata, in the 69th year of her religious life. She was 91 years old.
Born in Easton, Pa., Sister Ann Dorothy entered the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1944 from St. Jane Frances de Chantal Parish in Easton and professed her vows in 1947.
She taught various grades in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, in Peru and in her home parish in Easton. When she finished her apostolate of teaching, Sister Ann Dorothy worked in the library at St. Katharine School, Wayne, for many years.
She retired in Camilla in August 2002.
The funeral Mass was celebrated at Camilla Hall on April 29. The celebrant and homilist was Msgr. Joseph P. Garvin.
Sister Ann Dorothy is survived by members of her religious community, her sisters, Loretta Huber, Joan Stull, Jeanette Smith, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by her parents, James and Mary Meixsell Gittings and siblings Mary, Shirley, James and Elwood Gittings.
