Catholics across the Archdiocese of Philadelphia are preparing to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ at Masses on Christmas Eve and Christmas day at their local parish. The Cathedral Basilica of SS. Peter and Paul, 18th Street and the Benjamin Franklin Parkway in Philadelphia, offers the following Mass schedule:
Saturday, Dec. 24
The 5 p.m. Mass will feature music by the Cathedral Schola and instruments, and the 7:30 p.m. Mass will have music by the Cathedral Quartet.
Mass will also be celebrated at 9:30 p.m. in Spanish, with music provided by a cantor and an organist.
Beginning at 11 p.m. the Cathedral Basilica Choir and instruments will provide a choral prelude to the Midnight Mass with sacred music and carols.
Sunday, Dec. 25
The 12 a.m. Solemn Midnight Mass will be celebrated by Archbishop Charles J. Chaput with music provided by the Cathedral Basilica Choir and instruments.
The 10 a.m. Mass will have music provided by the Cathedral Basilica Choir and instruments.
Additional Christmas Day Masses will be celebrated in the Cathedral Basilica at 8 a.m., with music provided by a cantor and an organist, and at 12 noon, which will have the Cathedral Schola and instruments.
