SS. Simon and Jude Parish, West Chester, will host the 27th annual National Night of Prayer for Life on Thursday, Dec. 8 from 8 p.m. to midnight.
Adoration before the Blessed Sacrament will take place in Sacred Heart Chapel at the parish church, located at West Chester Pike (Route 3) and Route 352 in Westtown, Chester County.
All are welcome to pray at any time in the devotion to overcome abortion, for religious freedom and for the dignity and sanctity of every human life to be respected.
Times are suggested for particular groups including youth and families and 8 p.m., at which the pro-life stations of the cross will be prayed. Senior citizens will gather at 9, Knights of Columbus at 10 and all adults at 11, led by young adults.
The devotion will conclude with benediction at midnight.
The prayers, uniting with prayer vigils that night at churches across the country, occur on the solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, Dec. 8. The devotion spans into Dec. 9, the feast of St. Juan Diego, to whom Our Lady of Guadalupe appeared in 1531 in Mexico.
