Sister Kathleen Bonawitz, S.S.J. (formerly Sister John Augustine), died Dec. 7 at St. Joseph Villa, Flourtown in the 64th year of her religious life. She was 83.
The daughter of the late John and Kathleen Bonawitz, Sister Kathleen attended St. Stephen Grade School and Little Flower High School in Philadelphia.
In September 1954 she entered the Sisters of St. Joseph, Chestnut Hill and professed her final vows in 1962.
She ministered in the Archdioceses of Philadelphia and Washington, D.C.
She was the sister of the late Carol Julg. She is survived by her sister, Elizabeth Scriboni, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, as well as the members of her congregation the Sisters of St. Joseph.
The funeral Mass was celebrated Dec. 13 at St. Joseph Villa.
