Montse Alvarado

The Catholic Foundation of Greater Philadelphia presents a virtual event in its Catholic Leadership Speaker Series on Wednesday, Dec. 9 from 4 to 5 p.m.

The guest speaker is Montse Alvarado, vice president and executive director of the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty. She has led initiatives at Becket that have secured seven Supreme Court religious liberty victories including two wins against the contraceptive mandate, two protecting the rights of religious groups to choose their leaders and one safeguarding the free speech of crisis pregnancy centers and religious groups on campus.

Becket currently is representing archdiocesan Catholic Social Services before the Supreme Court, arguing to continue CSS’ work to place foster children in the City of Philadelphia.

Born in Mexico City, Alvarado earned degrees from George Washington University and Florida International University. She is fluent in Spanish and French and is a competitive jazz and classical vocalist.

To register for the event, visit TheCFGP.org/leadershipseriesdec20. There is no cost to register. A Zoom link to join the event will be provided to all registrants a few days prior to the event.
