Misericordia University will sponsor a three-part webinar on holistic care for elderly priests during the pandemic.
The virtual presentations are part of the university’s annual Elder Religious and Diocesan Priests workshops, which foster a broad, robust strong support networking system to care for aging clergy in religious congregations and dioceses.
“Mind, Spirit & Body: Holistic Care of Elder and Diocesan Priests Amidst COVID-19” will take place on June 18. The first session (11 a.m. – 12 p.m. EDT), led by David Hage (MSW, LCSW, ACSW, C-ASWCM) will cover “Strategies to Address Depression, Anxiety and Social Isolation in a COVID-19 World.”
From 2 p.m to 3 p.m., the webinar will examine the “Pastoral and Spiritual Impact of Our Losses in a COVID Environment: Grieving and Healing.” Presenters will be Maryknoll Brother Wayne J. Fitzpatrick (MS, MA, C-GCM) and Dominican Sister Mary C. Hopkins (MS, CRPS, CGT).
The final segment, from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., will consider “The Body’s Wisdom: Teaching Us the Connection Between Body, Mind and Spirit,” with presenter Dayna Larson-Hurst, RN, MSOD.
The workshops are free, and participants can attend one, two or all sessions. Religious and laity who serve elderly clergy — such as administrators, counselors, healthcare workers, geriatric professionals, pastoral staff, social workers and retirement planners — are encouraged to attend.
Register by June 15 at www.misericordia.edu/erdp. For more information, contact muconf@misericordia.edu or 570-674-6161.
