The Serra Club of Philadelphia invites all to attend a Mass and luncheon on Thursday, Dec. 2 to celebrate two newly ordained priests of the Philadelphia Archdiocese, Father Kenneth Cavara and Father Mark Tobin.
Mass, which is open to all, will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the Cathedral Basilica of SS. Peter and Paul in Philadelphia. The principal celebrant will be Bishop Michael Fitzgerald.
It will be followed immediately by lunch at the Sheraton Philadelphia Downtown, just across 17th Street behind the cathedral. The cost of the luncheon is $50; registration closes Nov. 22.

Those not able to attend the Mass may attend the luncheon and hear of the priests’ vocation paths.

The Mass and luncheon were once an annual tradition for more than 50 years, and the Serra Club — which promotes vocations to priesthood and religious life — proudly sponsors this event.
Guests will include the new priests’ parents, immediate family, clergy, friends and Serrans. The two newly ordained priests will give a brief summary of their path to the priesthood, with each giving their blessing to the attendees.
As in the past, the archdiocesan and area private Catholic high schools have an opportunity to send students to honor the new priests and be inspired by their example. The Serra Club of Philadelphia will sponsor the honorees, their guests, and high school students.
