The American Catholic Historical Society presents its Catholic History Lecture, “Institutional Decline and Demographic Change in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia” on Sunday, Feb. 20 at 2 p.m.
In this talk, researcher Madeline Gambino of Princeton University will look beyond parish closures to examine the impact of other archdiocesan policies of decline, such as school closures and church relegations, in shaping the institutional presence and demographic composition of the 21st century church.
The event is free and open to the public, but registration is required. Attendees may choose to attend in-person or via Zoom. Visit the ACHS webpage for more information and to register.
The event will be held at the society’s house at 263 South Fourth Street in the Old City section of Philadelphia.
