On April 11 some 315 students in grades Pre-K3 through 8 from Saint Pio Regional Catholic School in South Philadelphia, as well as students representing Saints John Neumann and Maria Goretti Catholic High School, marked National Child Abuse Prevention Month by planting a blue pinwheel garden.

The garden is part of a national movement called “Pinwheels for Prevention.” This grass roots initiative is sponsored by Prevent Child Abuse America. Locally, the event was sponsored by the archdiocesan Office for Child and Youth Protection (OCYP). Following the planting of the garden, OCYP staff members visited the classrooms and spoke with the students. (Photos Credit: Catholic Philly)
