Reverend John D. Silcox, Pastor Emeritus, Saint Laurence Parish, Upper Darby, died on Thursday, August 10, 2023.

Father Silcox was born on July 14, 1938, in Darby, Pennsylvania. He is the son of the late John D. Silcox, Sr. and the late Mary VanHaagen. Father Silcox attended Our Lady of Lourdes Parochial School, Philadelphia, and Saint Joseph’s Preparatory School, Philadelphia, before entering Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary.

Father Silcox was ordained on May 20, 1995 at The Cathedral Basilica of SS. Peter and Paul, Philadelphia by His Eminence Anthony Cardinal Bevilacqua. Father Silcox served as Parochial Vicar, SS. Philip & James Parish, Exton; Saint Laurence Parish, Upper Darby; Saint Dorothy Parish, Drexel Hill. He served as Pastor, Saint Laurence Parish, Upper Darby and named Pastor Emeritus in June 2008.

The Reception of the Body will be held at Saint Dorothy Church, Drexel Hill, on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at 9:00 AM., followed by a viewing at 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.

Most Reverend Nelson J. Pérez will celebrate the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Concelebrating the Funeral Mass will be Reverend Michael D. Murphy, Reverend Michael A. Colagreco, Reverend Monsignor Daniel J. Kutys, Reverend James A. Grant, and Reverend Jeffrey Ikoff (Classmate from Diocese of Lincoln Nebraska), will be the homilist.

Father Silcox is survived by his sister Patricia McHugh and several nieces and nephews.

Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in West Conshohocken, Pennsylvania.
