The Archdiocese of Philadelphia will hold its annual Retirement Fund for Religious collection in parishes throughout the five-county region Dec. 2-3.
Catholics in the Philadelphia Archdiocese donated $86,319.63 to the collection last year.
In 2022, the Canons Regular of Premontre, Handmaids of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Sisters of the Order of St. Basil the Great received a combined total of $184,373.14 in financial support made possible by the Retirement Fund collection.
The Archdiocese of Philadelphia, in conjunction with the Diocese of Allentown and the Diocese of Harrisburg, also distributes funding to local religious communities to support retirement needs.
About the upcoming collection, The National Religious Retirement Office Director John Knutsen said, “We are privileged to support those who have dedicated their lives to tireless service, and we are immensely grateful for the continuing generosity of U.S. Catholic donors to this vital cause.”
The 2022 appeal raised $27.6 million nationally and the National Religious Retirement Office distributed funding to 297 U.S. religious communities.
Donations also underwrite resources that help religious communities improve elder care and plan for long-term retirement needs.
