An archdiocesan hunger-relief agency is currently hosting a food drive to benefit individuals and families facing hunger and food insecurity throughout the five-county Philadelphia region.
Nutritional Development Services’ annual Manna Sunday food drive runs now through May 24.
The food drive, named after the edible substance God provided for the Israelites in the desert, prepares NDS for the “desert” of the summer months when donations at its food pantries drop to low levels. This is the agency’s 45th year hosting the collection.
Making a donation to the food drive is easy. Those interested in participating can purchase items online through You Give Goods. Those interested in donating funds directly to Nutritional Development Services are asked to visit here.
Canned, non-perishable items such as tuna fish, fruit, vegetables, pasta, and soups are some of the most requested items.
All goods donated will be delivered to a network of 50 food cupboards throughout the Greater Philadelphia region supported by NDS for distribution.
