The Archdiocese of Philadelphia has announced the appointment of new regional deans and a new deanery structure by which its 214 parishes are organized across five counties in Southeastern Pennsylvania.
Archbishop Nelson J. Pérez shared the information in a letter to the faithful Monday, July 1.
“In response to demographic changes over the past thirteen years there has been a need to adjust the boundaries of the deaneries so that pastoral ministry may be carried out in the most effective way possible to serve the faithful of the Church of Philadelphia,” he said.
The regional Deans assist the Archbishop by sharing in the pastoral care and governance of our local Church.
Each Dean is responsible to and works most closely with the auxiliary bishop who acts as the Archbishop’s liaison to their Episcopal Region.
This year, a dedicated deanery for parishes within the Hispanic Ministry Apostolate has been established.
