The service is an opportunity for the faithful of the Ukrainian Catholic Archeparchy of Philadelphia and the Archdiocese of Philadelphia to celebrate the Jubilee Year of the Catholic Church together with Archbishop Shevchuk, leader of 5 million Ukrainian Catholics throughout the world who is visiting the United States on a pastoral mission.

The purpose of his visit is to support his faithful, many of whom were forced to leave their homeland due to the full-scale war that began Feb. 24, 2022. He will also advocate for peace and justice in his country.

Also on Feb. 16 at 11 a.m., His Beatitude will preside over the Divine Liturgy in the Byzantine Rite at the Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Philadelphia.

These services are part of the Ukrainian Catholic Archeparchy of Philadelphia’s 24-hour spiritual renewal program, taking place Feb. 15-16.
