Twelve students attending parish and regional elementary schools from throughout the five-county region competed on March 4 for the Archdiocesan Elementary School Religion Bee following their progression through local and regional competitions.
Religion bees were held at 70 parish and regional Catholic elementary schools and private Catholic elementary schools throughout the five-county region to determine local champions. Students in grades five through eight were eligible to participate. Two preliminary rounds were held last month at Archbishop Ryan High School in the Northeast Philadelphia and at Cardinal O’Hara High School in Springfield, Delaware County to determine finalists for the championship.
Jerome Petr, a fifth grade student at Holy Cross Regional Catholic School in Montgomery County, clinched first place. Seventh grader Brady Sirkin at St. Mary Magdalen School in Delaware County finished in second followed by third place winner Nolan Tigeros, an eighth grade student at St. Katherine of Siena School in Northeast Philadelphia.
