Deacon Jack (John) J. Pfeifer

Permanent Deacon Jack (John) J. Pfeifer passed away on May 27, 2025, at the age of 68.

He was ordained on June 10, 2017, by Most Reverend Charles J. Chaput, O.F.M. Cap., at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, Philadelphia. He was originally assigned to Saint Andrew Parish, Newtown, where he remained until his death.

Deacon Pfeifer was born on July 6, 1956, to John and Marlene (née Hocker) Pfeifer. He was raised in Port Richmond, Philadelphia and graduated from North Catholic High School. He went to Philadelphia University and graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management. Following graduation, he embarked on a long and dedicated career at Glasco Construction for 40 years before retiring in December 2024.

Deacon Pfeifer is survived by his wife of 47 years, Maureen (nee O’Brien) Pfeifer. He is also survived by his daughter Dorle, and his son Jack, and two grandchildren.

Reception of the Body and viewing will be held on Sunday, June 1, 2025, beginning from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at Saint Andrew Parish, 81 Swamp Road, Newtown.

A second viewing will be held on Monday, June 2, 2025, beginning at 10:00 AM, followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at Saint Andrew Parish, 81 Swamp Road, Newtown. The principal celebrant will be Most Reverend Edward M. Deliman. Concelebrant and homilist will be Reverend Monsignor Kevin C. Lawrence. Deacon Assisting at the Liturgy of the Word will be Deacon Edward E. Duess, and  Deacon Assisting at the Eucharist will be Deacon John Scott McDonald.

Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery, 291 Durham Road, Newtown.
