John Iannarelli has been named president of Archbishop Wood High School in Warminster by Archbishop Nelson J. Pérez.
The appointment, which becomes effective June 2, was announced May 28 in a letter from Jay DeFruscio, chief operating officer of secondary schools for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.
Iannarelli is a 1982 graduate of Archbishop Wood. After graduating from Muhlenberg College, he pursued a business career with roles in accounting, finance, real estate, marketing, and sales.
He has managed budgets of more than $600 million and served as chief financial officer of AmeriGas Propane, a Fortune 1000 company.
A licensed certified public accountant and real estate professional, he has taught a senior elective course at Archbishop Wood titled “Fundamentals of Real Estate” since 2022.
Iannarelli succeeds Gary Zimmaro, who served Archbishop Wood for 47 years in several capacities, including president for the past 15 years.
In his letter, DeFruscio offered “immense gratitude as well as heartfelt prayers and best wishes” to Zimmaro for “all that he has done for the school community as well as the generations of students and families he has served.”
Zimmaro will remain at Archbishop Wood through June to “provide professional support” to Iannarelli and school administrators, DeFruscio wrote.
He extended “prayerful congratulations” to Iannarelli in his “new role in service to Catholic education in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.”
