
Deacon Victor I. Seda
Retired Deacon Victor I. Seda passed away on May 31, 2025, at the age of 81.
He was ordained on October 31, 1981, by His Eminence John Cardinal Krol, at the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Peter and Paul, Philadelphia. Upon his ordination he was assigned to Saint Veronica Parish, Philadelphia, for 14 years. Then he was later assigned to Saint Helena Parish, Philadelphia where he remained even after his retirement in August 2021.
Deacon Seda was born in Carbo Rajo, Puerto Rico, on July 31, 1943, to the late Saul and Adneri (née Mercado) Seda. He later moved with his family and was raised in Philadelphia and went to Penn Treaty High School and later finished his education at Pennco Tech. He joined the United States Navy and received the National Defense Service medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Vietnam Service medal. Upon completing his military service, he returned home and began his career at the Social Security Administration as a customer service representative until he retired in 2009.
Deacon Victor Seda, is survived by his daughter Jeanette Seda, his son, Jonathan, his grandson (due in August), and his sister Alba Rolon.
A viewing will be held on Friday, June 6, 2025, from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Geitner-Givnish Life Celebration Home, 6230 N. 5th Street, Philadelphia. A second viewing will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025, beginning at 9:00 AM followed by his Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM at Saint Helena Parish, 6161 N. 5th Street, Philadelphia. The principal celebrant will be Most Reverend Edward M. Deliman. Concelebrant and homilist will be Reverend Matthew K. Biedrzycki. Deacon of the Word will be Deacon Victor M. Pomales, and Deacon of Eucharist is Deacon Huan C. Tran. Interment will follow at Pine Grove Memorial Park.
