Reverend James C. Sherlock, Pastor Emeritus, Saint Colman Parish, Ardmore, died on Tuesday, June 24, 2025.

Father Sherlock was born on September 25, 1938, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is the son of the late John J. Sherlock and the late Ann Hearty. Father Sherlock attended Sacred Heart Elementary School, Philadelphia and West Catholic High School, Philadelphia, before entering Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary.

Father Sherlock was ordained on May 16, 1964, at The Cathedral Basilica of SS. Peter and Paul, Philadelphia by Most Reverend John J. Krol. Father Sherlock served as Parochial Vicar, Our Mother of Sorrows Parish, Philadelphia, Saint Jerome Parish, Philadelphia, Annunciation B.V.M. Parish, Havertown, Our Lady of Grace Parish, Penndel, Saint John the Evangelist Parish, Morrisville. He was appointed Pastor at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, Philadelphia. He was named Pastor, Saint Colman Parish, Ardmore, in 2004 and 2017 he was named Pastor Emeritus.

The Reception of the Body will be held at Saint Colman Church, Ardmore, on Monday, June 30, 2025, at 9:00 AM followed by a viewing. Most Reverend Nelson J. Pérez will celebrate the Funeral Mass on Monday, June 30, 2025, at 11:00 AM. Concelebrating the Funeral Mass will be Reverend James Hutchins, Reverend Monsignor Patrick Sweeney, Reverend Monsignor Robert Vogan, Reverend Monsignor Michael McCormac, and Reverend Monsignor Wilfred Pashley will be the homilist.

Father Sherlock is survived by his brother and nephews.

Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Yeadon, Pennsylvania.
