West Catholic Preparatory High School formally dedicated and opened its newly renovated Connelly Center for Academic Excellence on Wednesday, May 14 marking a significant milestone in its mission to provide comprehensive academic support for students.
The new center is home to the De La Salle Academic Support Program, designed to create customized learning pathways and enrich the educational experience of West Catholic students. School leadership was joined at the ceremony by representatives from the Connelly Foundation, the Archdiocese of Philadelphia’s Office of Catholic Education, members of the school board, faculty, staff, and students.
The ceremony comes just over a year after West Catholic received a $500,000 grant from the Connelly Foundation in April 2024. The funding enabled extensive renovations of the academic facility, the hiring of a program director, and the implementation of student-centered learning initiatives.
Located at 4501 Chestnut Street in West Philadelphia, West Catholic has served the local community since 1916 and continues to uphold its mission of academic excellence, leadership, and service.
