As part of the 2025 Jubilee Year, an ecumenical service marking the 1700th anniversary of the Council of Nicaea will take place on Monday, October 6 at 7:00 p.m. at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul in Center City Philadelphia.
The Council of Nicaea affirmed the Church’s lasting belief in Jesus Christ as the Son of God, consubstantial with the Father. This commemorative service will feature a proclamation of the Word, reflections from ecumenical leaders, a litany of thanksgiving drawn from the Council’s texts, and the Nicene Creed sung in English, Latin, and Greek. Archbishop Nelson J. Pérez and Metropolitan Archbishop Borys Gudziak will preside.
All members of the Christian community are warmly invited to attend.
