Before joining the Central Office, Rooney served as principal of Monsignor Bonner & Archbishop Prendergast Catholic High School in Drexel Hill beginning in 2021, and previously led the former Bishop McDevitt High School until its closure that same year. She has also held administrative roles with Camelot Education in New Jersey and taught in several Philadelphia-area schools, including MaST Charter School and Maternity B.V.M. Parish School.

Patricia Rooney has been appointed principal of Father Judge High School, effective Aug. 25, 2025.
Patricia Rooney has been named the new principal of Father Judge High School, according to a July 30 announcement from the archdiocesan Office for Catholic Education. Her appointment becomes effective Monday, Aug. 25.
Rooney currently serves as Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Schools, a role she has held since July 2024. She brings over 30 years of experience in education, including over a decade in leadership positions, to her new role.
Superintendent William E. Brannick praised Rooney’s “exemplary service” in the Central Office over the past year, adding that her “solid leadership will be a great asset to Father Judge, the Salesian Gentlemen, school families, and dedicated faculty and staff on Solly Avenue.”
The Office of Catholic Education has launched a search to fill the vacant assistant superintendent role. Brannick emphasized that the transition will not impact day-to-day school operations or services to families.
