On Monday, Oct. 6, at 7:00 p.m., the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul in Center City will host a powerful Ecumenical Celebration marking the 1700th anniversary of the Council of Nicaea. This gathering, part of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia’s Jubilee Year 2025 observances, invites Christians from across the region to give thanks for the divine revelation of Jesus Christ and the enduring truth affirmed at Nicaea: that Jesus is God, consubstantial with the Father.

Presided over by Archbishop Nelson J. Pérez and Metropolitan-Archbishop of Philadelphia of the Ukrainian Catholic Church Borys Gudziak, the evening will feature reflections from ecumenical leaders, a Litany of Thanksgiving drawn from the Council’s teachings, and a rendition of the Nicene Creed sung in English, Latin, and Greek. This event offers a rare opportunity for believers of all traditions to unite in gratitude and faith, celebrating the Holy Spirit’s guidance through one of the Church’s most pivotal moments.

All are welcome to attend. Free parking is available in the Cathedral parking lot. For more information, please visit the Archdiocese’s Jubilee Year page.
