Prepare your heart to celebrate the birth of Jesus with Martin Saints Classical High School, 3000 Keenwood Road in East Norriton, as it hosts Advent Lessons and Carols on Tuesday, Dec. 11 at 7 pm.
This annual evening of Scripture, prayer, and music seeks to ground participants in an Advent respite during the all-too-busy holiday season.
Traditional readings unfolding salvation history will be interspersed with musical reflections from the student vocal and instrumental ensembles.
Cookies and cocoa will be served following the event.
“These students have been hard at work inside and outside of school,” Brett Cuddy, music teacher at Martin Saints. “Our goal is to keep the anticipation of Christ firmly at the center of Advent, and it would be an honor for our Lessons and Carols to become part of your preparation this year.”
Music is an integral part of a Martin Saints education. During all four years, students are enrolled in choir and take a classroom music course, which includes music theory, history, and appreciation.
“At Martin Saints, we teach our students that worship is the highest act in which they can take part,” said Cuddy. “Furthermore, to lift our prayer through song is an even greater offering to God. We were created to worship, to sing, to be part of a community. Our Lessons and Carols service is a culmination of these gifts.”
All are warmly invited.
