Permanent Deacon Peter H. Burghart

Permanent Deacon Peter H. Burghart, passed away on December 1, 2025, at the age of 77.

Deacon Burghart was born on October 19, 1948, to the late Hurbert and Kathryn (née Fachet) Burghart. He was raised in Philadelphia and attended Saint Joseph’s College receiving a B.S. in Chemistry and his M.S. in Chemistry. He then worked as a Senior Scientist at National Medical Services and then went to Wyatt Pharmaceuticals in 1991 until he retired in 2010.

He was ordained on June 10, 2001, by His Eminence Anthony Cardinal Bevilacqua, at the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Peter and Paul, Philadelphia. He served as Permanent Deacon at Saint Alphonsus Parish, Maple Glen, and Saint Mary of the Assumption Parish, Phoenixville.

Deacon Burghart is survived by his son Peter, and daughters Megan and Katherine and seven grandchildren. He also survived  by his four siblings Phyllis Voilio, Diana Olson, Thomas, and Paul.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 5, 2025, beginning at 10:00 AM followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:30 AM at Saint Mary Roman Catholic Church, 40 Spring Mount Road, Schwenksville. The principal celebrant will be Most Reverend Michael J. Fitzgerald. The Concelebrant and Homilist will be Reverend Stephen F. Katziner. Additional concelebrant will be Reverend James M. Cox. The Deacon of the Mass will be Deacon John Rose. The Deacon of Mass will be Deacon John Rose. Interment will follow at Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield.
