The event opened with an art showcase featuring works by Sr. Helen David Brancato, IHM, and Brother Mickey McGrath, OSA, along with selections from Malvern Prep’s Faces of Augustine exhibit.

A panel discussion followed, moderated by Shalom Stewart, Director of Campus Ministry and Faith Formation. Panelists included:

  • Father Kevin Nadolski, OSFS, PhD, founding board chair and current Vice President for Mission at DeSales University

  • Sister Regina Flanigan, IHM, founding team member

  • Father Art Purcaro, OSA, early supporter of the school’s mission and Assistant Vice President for Mission and Ministry at Villanova University

Panelists reflected on the Cristo Rey Philadelphia, Salesian, IHM, and Augustinian charisms that shaped the school’s founding and continue to guide its culture.

Father Nadolski described the gathering as “one big moment full of grace,” adding that the stories shared are what “inspired us to grow (the mission) more fully and with renewed enthusiasm.”

In 2021, the Augustinians became co-endorsers of Cristo Rey Philadelphia, joining the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales and the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, who have staff members at the school.

Cristo Rey Philadelphia is an independent Catholic high school and part of the national Cristo Rey Network, which includes 41 schools in 24 states.
