With all of the season’s Christmas movies hoping to put viewers in a festive mood, a Philadelphia-flavored film aims to become a beloved classic among residents of the Delaware Valley.

“Finding Christmas” is a film set in Philadelphia with striking visuals of city neighborhoods and an important inclusion of Holy Innocents Church in Juniata, Northeast Philadelphia.

It tells the story of Mikey Finnegan, a young man who after an injury, is aided by an angel as they travel in a dreamy adventure back to the time of Christ’s birth to learn the meaning of faith and love.

Released on streaming platforms in 2024, the film was created by Philadelphia native Mike Walsh who wrote and produced the film in conjunction with Better Angels Films and Philly Born Films.

Viewers with a sharp eye will notice the Christmas lights on Philadelphia’s streets, neat rowhomes, the lovely church, iconic city skyline – and sweatshirts touting North Catholic, Roman Catholic and Little Flower high schools.

Among many other pleasing local touches, watch for the appearance of Holy Innocents Parish’s pastor.
