“My Dear Friends in the Muslim Community,

On behalf of the Catholic Church of Philadelphia, I extend prayerful greetings as you prepare to celebrate Eid al-Fitr! May you be filled with peace and joy as you conclude Ramadan’s month-long vigil of fasting, prayer, and works of mercy.

This period of reflection takes place during a time of global unease and uncertainty. As peoples of various faith traditions throughout the region, we have celebrated or will soon celebrate powerful holy days. We take these occasions to lift up our hearts in prayer for peace in our families, peace in our communities, and peace in our world.

Please know that on behalf of all the Catholic faithful of our region, I pray for those intentions. May we attain that peace and may it be a lasting one.

May this time of joyful celebration find you blessed abundantly.”

Most Reverend Nelson J. Pérez, D.D.
Archbishop of Philadelphia
