All are invited to pray for the victims of the recent shooting in Las Vegas at a Mass Saturday, Oct. 7 at 5:15 p.m. at the Cathedral Basilica of SS. Peter and Paul, 18th Street and the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, Philadelphia.

The mass shooting in Las Vegas this past Sunday night in which a lone gunman killed 59 people and injured more than 500 has become the deadliest such massacre in modern U.S. history.

The anticipated Sunday Mass at the cathedral on Saturday evening will gather everyone to pray for those who died and were injured, and for an end to such tragedy.

“We can never allow ourselves to become immune to horrific violence,” said the cathedral’s rector, Father Dennis Gill, “and also to fail to pray for those caught in the grip of such violence. Those who have died will be especially remembered as we unite them to the Sacrifice of the Lord in the Eucharist.”

The Archdiocesan Rosary scheduled later for Saturday evening at the cathedral at 7 p.m. will also include prayers for all the victims of the massacre.
