Sister de Paul Schmidt, 105, of the Bernardine Franciscan Sisters Third Order Regular of St. Francis, died Feb. 10 at St. Joseph Villa in Reading, Pa., where she had resided since 2004.

Born in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late Valentine and Marcia (Orlowska) Schmidt.

Sister de Paul entered the Bernardine Order in 1929, and was in her 89th year of religious life. She earned a bachelor’s degree in music and education from College Misericordia, Dallas, Pa.

She served her ministry in Connecticut, Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Texas as an elementary and secondary teacher, principal, tutor, attendance recorder, receptionist and superior.

There are no surviving immediate family members.

The funeral Mass was celebrated Feb. 15 at St Joseph Villa Chapel, Reading. Burial followed in the Bernardine Franciscan Sisters’ cemetery, Mt. Alvernia.
