BLUE BELL – The boys CYO varsity basketball team from SS. Simon and Jude Parish in West Chester won St. Helena’s tournament Jan. 17 in Blue Bell.
After defeating St. Helena in the quarterfinals, and topping Corpus Christi, Lansdale, in overtime in the semifinals, SS. Simon Jude advanced to the championship game against Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Doylestown, prevailing 42-40.
Ben Cassonova of SS. Simon and Jude was named tournament MVP, and his teammates Kevin Murphy and John Skrocki were named to the all-tournament team.
This tournament win comes after the team won two last month: the St. Anastasia Christmas Tournament and the “Hoops on the Hill” tournament at the Hill School in Pottstown.
