The girls CYO volleyball tournament began Friday, Nov. 4 with the top 24 teams from each region. Play continued on Saturday at Competitive Edge Sports in King of Prussia with the top eight teams from Friday night’s matches. The anticipation and excitement grew as teams from different regions faced one another for the first time. The top four teams from Saturday played in the semi-final and final games on Sunday.
Sunday’s semi-final matches saw St. Eleanor’s (Region 21) competing against St. Jude (Region 20) and Mother of Divine Providence (Region 21) vs. Villa Maria (Region 17). After two hard-fought matches, the final featured St. Eleanor’s vs. another Region 21 team and rival — Mother of Divine Providence. Both teams reached the finals last year with Mother of Divine Providence winning the championship match.
But this year St. Eleanor’s emerged as champs with a win (25-22, 16-25, 18-16) over Mother of Divine Providence.
