Sister Irene Elizabeth Collins, I.H.M., formerly Sister M. Nazarita, died Nov. 29, 2011 at Camilla Hall in Immaculata. She was 90 and in the 72nd year of her religious life.

Born in Darby, Pa. She entered the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1939 from St. Clement Parish in Philadelphia. She professed her first vows in 1942.

She received a bachelor’s degree from Immaculata University and master’s degree from Villanova University. She taught in elementary and secondary schools of the Archdioceses of Philadelphia and Miami, Fla., and in the Dioceses of Allentown and Arlington, Va.

In 2004 she was assigned to Camilla Hall to a ministry of prayer.

She was predeceased by her parents, Samuel and Helen Crumbach Collins; two brothers, Samuel and Francis; three sisters, Sister Helen Mary, I.H.M., Claire Connors and Laetitae; and a cousin, Sister Maria Corona, I.H.M.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Dec. 2 at Camilla Hall.

She is survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, as well as members of her religious community.
