The Wisdom Ball Committee at St. Cyprian Parish in West Philadelphia announces its inaugural Cotillion-Beautillion Ball and Scholarship Program.

The program is designed to celebrate exceptional young men and women in the community while they attain scholarship money. Those who are accepted into the program take part in an eight-week series of workshops and activities that include community service, public speaking and social and professional etiquette.

Committee members hope the program will instill a sense of leadership and service in all the participants.

Along with the lessons, each young person will work with a mentor to devise fundraising strategies to raise money for the ball. All the money raised will go toward scholarship funds and other charitable donations.

The culmination of the experience will be a formal ball Dec. 16 at Drexelbrook Banquet Facility.

The application deadline is September 28. All interested people between the ages of 17 and 21 are encouraged to apply. They must be in good moral standing, have a GPA of 2.5 or higher, demonstrate a commitment to community service and cannot have participated in debutant(e) ball before.

There is a $10 application fee and a $140 entry fee if selected. Those selected will have the opportunity to win up to $5,000 in scholarship funds.
