SS. Simon and Jude School, West Chester plans the following events:
Saturday, Jan. 26
Parish Community Day — eighth grade student to speak at 5 p.m. Mass, after which a book fair opens in East/West Hall.
Sunday, Jan. 27
Parish Community Day — eighth grade students speak at each Mass. Special school participation at 9 a.m. Mass. School open house plus book fair in East/West Hall, 10 a.m. to noon. Everyone – parents, neighbors, friends and parishioners are invited to come and see the school.
Monday, Jan. 28
Grandparent/VIP Day – 1 p.m. prayer service in gym followed by entertainment, refreshments in the classrooms, optional trip to the book fair and time spent with the children. Students may invite their grandparents or a VIP.
Tuesday, Jan. 29
Student Appreciation Day — bingo for grades 2-3 in Monihan Hall, 1:15-1:45 p.m.; bingo for grades K-1 in Monihan Hall, 1:55-2:25 p.m.; SSJ Bowl for grades 4-8 in gym, 1:15-2:45 p.m.; Maroon & Gold Dress Day: All students may wear gym uniforms with gym T-shirt or special SSJ T-shirt (spirit wear, 8th grade game night, Kindergarten T’s, or CYO T’s).
Wednesday, Jan. 30
Parent Appreciation Day — no homework for students, and thus for parents!
Thursday, Jan. 31
All students may dress down; talent show for students, 1:15 p.m.; talent show in Cavanaugh Hall for parents, neighbors, friends and parishioners, 7 p.m.
Friday, Feb. 1
Teacher Appreciation Day — Mass for all grades, 9 a.m.; open house, 10:15-11:15 a.m. The visitors’ open house is for current and prospective families. In order to maintain an instructional focus, please limit your stay to 15 minutes in each classroom, and please do not bring younger children into the classrooms with you. Dismissal at 11:45 a.m. Teacher Appreciation Luncheon compliments of the Home and School Association at 12:15 p.m.
In honor of the school’s 50th anniversary each grade is choosing a Catholic Schools Week logo from the past to reflect how that logo is lived out at SS. Simon and Jude. Grandparents/VIPs are invited to vote on their favorite Catholic Schools Week logo from the past years.
Look for “50” in the talent show acts.
Children of SS. Simon and Jude alums will be honored at Mass on Friday, Feb. 1.
