St. Martha School, 11321 Academy Road in Philadelphia, will host the following Catholic Schools Week events:
Sunday, Jan. 27
Catholic Schools Week begins with 10 a.m. Mass hosted by 8th graders. They are the lectors, cantors, greeters and take up the collections. After Mass an open house showcases the school.
Student Council members take new parents on a tour of the school emphasizing our newly dedicated science lab, which is dedicated toSt.MarthaSchoolgraduate Captain Christopher Ferguson (retired), who served as an astronaut.
Wednesday, Jan. 30
The faculty makes and hosts a spaghetti dinner for school families while they view the Scholastic book fair. Seating begins at 5:30 p.m.
Thursday, Jan. 31
The annual Color Games for grades K-4, beginning at noon, feature the faculty and parish pastor competing against the school children. What fun it is to see Father Al Masluk with a bucket on his head running to the finish line against a little one.
Older children in grades 5-8 enjoy a dance-a-thon beginning at noon while collecting money for end-of-the-year scholarships in memory of a dearly departed computer teacher, Suzanne Blesi.
