St. Mary’s Interparochial School, 5th and Locust streets in Philadelphia, plans the following activities for Catholic Schools Week:

 

Sunday, Jan. 27

Open house and book fair, 10 a.m. to noon.

Monday, Jan. 28

Teacher Appreciation Day; Mass at Old St. Joseph’s Church at 9:30 a.m.; student retreat and meditation; book fair.

Tuesday, Jan. 29

Volunteer and Parent Appreciation Day — A special breakfast is held at 7:30 a.m. for all the many volunteers who are dedicated to our school community.

Shine Your Light Day — Parents and guardians are invited into their child’s classroom to share a special skill or talk about their profession.

Book fair.

Wednesday, Jan. 30

Staff Appreciation Day – Students will be treated to the Science Show, a special interactive science presentation.

Prayer Family Service Project — Students will work

on a service project. This year nine families were

created within our school community. Each family

has two or three representatives from each grade.

This has allowed for students to interact with other

students and teachers.

Book fair.

Thursday, Jan. 31

Student Appreciation Day – The Maroon and White Games will take place in the morning. This is a spirited tradition where students are divided into Maroon and White teams to compete in good-natured athletic challenges.

Parent Social sponsored by the Home and School Association.

Las Cazuelas, 6 to 8 p.m.

Book fair.

Friday, Feb. 1

Exposition and Benediction at Old St.Mary’s Church at 9:30 a.m.

Academic Bowl — Teachers will hold academic-themed contests within the classroom. Many have opted to utilize classroom projectors, smart boards and iPads to conduct their individual bowl.

Alumni Career Day — Alumni are invited to talk about their professional experiences and answer questions from students in grades 7 and 8.

Book fair.
